Encouragement in the News During COVID-19 By Robert Warren
During times of crisis, it can be hard to see the good in any society but when we look hard enough we can see that indeed, it is still there. In a time when we have adopted memes as a coping mechanism and a way of finding humor during hard times, there has been a lot of good things happen in the world even as the hard epidemic of COVID-19 continues. While the news seems to be frightening sometimes we can also find some good, so here it is, encouragement in the news during COVID-19.

According to The Verge and Yahoo News, May 16, at 8 p.m. (EST) marked a big day as ABC, FOX, NBC and CBS aired an event called “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020,” which featured headliner Barack Obama, and performers like The Jonas Brothers, Pharrell Williams and more. It was a way of showing a coming togetherness as the class of 2020 graduates, hosted by XQ Institute, an advocacy group, The LeBron James Family Foundation and The Entertainment Industry Foundation.
Then there is this, as according to AP News, “there will be free weekly recordings of the first book in the Harry Potter franchise coming to Spotify. The book will be narrated by celebrities such as Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter himself), Dakota Fanning, David Beckham and Stephen Fry among others. All of this will be made cost free as a way to help people cope with isolation.
As a society, it’s good we look out for one another during times of crisis, and we remain positive because we are all in this together. Nurses work hard during these times, front line workers are always putting their lives on the line and we are working through this tough time.
Enjoy the resources made by the kind hearts sharing them. Stay strong.
