Houston, Texas-based rapper and speaker, Corey Paul, recently released a music video for “Gun Play.” The track is off his album, Trill Young King, and attempts to show how difficult it is to be a light amid a cycle of gun violence.
Kick The Concrete, a platform designed for artists to share the story behind their art, premiered the music video.
“The acceptance of Jesus and the practice of Christian principles is not an end to all earthly suffering,” Paul writes in his story in which he shares how he saw his mother shoot his drug-addicted father. “People still get shot every day. However, acceptance of Jesus provides an upgraded version of the peace people often spend their life searching for. As a believer I am ‘in the world but, not of it’ (John 17:16), meaning my belief system and core values are not based on the world’s metric, but a Godly criteria.”
